Tahaa , French Polynesia

Taha’a is one of the islands within the Society Islands group in French Polynesia. Often spelled Tahaa, it is located to the southeast of Bora Bora and to the immediate north of Raiatea. The island covers 90.2 sq km (34.8 sq mi) and has a population of around 5,000 people (2012 estimate).

The main export of Taha’a is vanilla. It produces close to 80% of all the vanilla of the French Polynesia, so much so that the air in Taha’a carries the fragrance of vanilla. In comparison with Bora Bora, there are far fewer tourists. The main resort here is Le Taha’a Island Resort and Spa.
